Back in 2016, Prescription Lab was a newcomer in an already very saturated beauty market. Prescription Lab is a cosmetics subscription box service. Every month, you receive 2 full-size and 1 travel-size high-end beauty product at your doorstep. On top of introducing people to new brands, Prescription Lab also develop its own range of cosmetics. One of the challenges with this project was to create a packaging range that was elegant yet visually surprising (customers would discover a new product from the brand each month). I opted to add some texture to the top of the packaging to create a new unboxing experience every month while keeping the bottom very simple and minimalistic (for a sharp look on the bathroom shelf).

This project also included designing an e-commerce website and a monthly magazine (included in the box). I continued working with Prescription Lab for 2 years as a Designer/Art Director.

Project Scope

As a designer, it is sometimes hard to accurately demonstrate the entire scope of the work I do. Thereโ€™s the visual part but also a lot of behind-the-scenes. To try to be as precise as possible, I added a detailed breakdown of the work I have done on each project at the bottom of each page.

  • I worked closely with the founder of the brand to conceptualize and design the visual identity system complete with the packaging range and the website.

  • I worked for 2 years to get Prescription Lab off the ground. In those two years I was the sole Art Director for all the assets we created (photoshoot*, videos, social media, etc.)

*Some photos on this page (mostly on the second half of the page and the cover image) were art directed by my very talented successor Laure Demonchy.

  • Part of the visual identity was, of course, the packaging design. I worked closely with the marketing department to create an elegant and harmonious range of products. A big part of it was also making sure I created ready-to-print files for a smooth handover to the print facility.

  • This project was featured on The Dieline with the (very cool) title: These Natural Beauty Products Make Minimalism Look Good

  • Photography: Zoe Fidji Schmidmaier | Art Direction: Laure Demonchy and myself
